Brief Description: 

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Global Technical Health Economics Lead to join our Global HEOR team. This role will be responsible for leading the development of robust health economic models and providing strategic technical guidance across our Oncology and Neuroscience portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading models for at least four HTA submissions to NICE, CADTH, or PBAC, and will play a key role in supporting Global Product HEOR Directors and training technical skills to the full GVHEOR team.  

 

The Health Economics Technical Lead will provide expertise and practical modelling to support the Product Global Value and HEOR product Directors deliver payer value. The role will lead the development of simplified early economic models in addition to providing expertise to the development of other key technical deliverables across Jazz’s portfolio. A key part of the role will be to upskill all members of the team in technical Health Economics. The role offers a good opportunity to take technical expertise gained in consultancy and apply it more directly within industry, while gaining a strong understanding of the strategic needs of Global Value and HEOR. 

Essential Functions 

Technical Leadership & Strategy 

  • Lead the design, development, and validation of global cost-effectiveness, budget impact, and other economic models. 

  • Provide expert technical input to Global Product HEOR Directors to inform product value strategies and evidence generation plans. 

  • Ensure models are aligned with global payer requirements and HTA best practices. 

HTA & Reimbursement Support 

  • Serve as the technical lead for economic components of HTA submissions, with direct experience in at least four submissions to NICE, CADTH, or PBAC. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional global teams (EUR/INT HEOR & Payer Strategy, medical, regulatory, market access) to ensure high-quality and timely submissions. 

  • Represent the company in technical discussions with HTA bodies, academic collaborators, and external consultants. 

Training & Capability Building 

  • Develop and deliver training programs and materials to upskill GVHEOR team. 

  • Provide ongoing mentorship and technical coaching to ensure consistency and excellence in modeling practices across the organization. 

Evidence Generation & Collaboration 

  • Help identify evidence gaps and support the design of studies to support model inputs (e.g., utilities, treatment patterns, models). 

  • Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and data scientists to ensure high-quality data inputs and analyses. 

  • Manage relationships with vendors to ensure timely completion of high-quality projects. 

  • Present research findings at scientific congresses, key internal cross-functional forums, and advisory boards. 

General 

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and scientific interactions with healthcare professionals, payers, advocacy and other business partners. 

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results in a timely manner. 

  • Remain current on HEOR data sources and analytic methods. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • At least 6 years of technical HEOR experience in the pharmaceutical or related industries (e.g., consulting). 

  • Lead the development of at least 4 Cost Effectiveness Models used for submission to NICE, CADTH or PBAC. 

  • Deep understanding of other technical areas of HEOR, including Indirect Treatment Comparison/Network Meta-Analysis, Early Economic Modelling, Budget Impact Modelling, iPad/Field modelling & survival modelling. 

  • Strong research and publication track record. 

  • Direct experience of Oncology essential. Experience of Neuroscience preferred. 

  • Experience training a variety of different people. 

  • Experience in managing multiple projects across a variety of health outcomes methodologies and therapeutic areas. 

  • Strong understanding of market access and commercialization needs across markets. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Excellent presentation skills to represent Global Value & HEOR at different forums within a matrix organization and at advisory board meetings. 

  • Ability to influence without authority and clearly articulate HEOR needs in support of the product. 

  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in teams. 

  • Experience managing project budgets. 

  • Problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during project execution and ability to work well with external consultants as well as experts. 

  • Experienced and adept at navigating international, multi-lingual, and cross-functional organizational matrices within a diverse and cross-cultural work environment. 

  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint. 

  • Ability to travel approximately 10% time (with the ability to work 5 days per week when travelling, with time off in lieu). 

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses 

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree is required.  Advanced degree related to Health Economics and/or Health Outcomes research (MSc, MS, MPH, PhD, PharmD) is strongly preferred.  Related fields include Health Services Research, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacy Administration, and Health Policy.
