We have a diverse portfolio of products and product candidates with a focus in the areas of neuroscience and haematology/oncology. In UK/Ireland, Jazz Pharmaceuticals markets haematology-oncology products for severe Veno-Occlusive Disease and high risk Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. 


As Jazz UK/Ireland gears up for multiple launches in solid tumour oncology, launch readiness will be a core focus of this role. This role will lead the planning and execution of launch strategies, ensuring operational excellence to deliver a timely launch. Driving cross-functional alignment and readiness across medical, regulatory, commercial, and access teams will be critical to achieving successful launch and access for patients.


Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Business Unit Head is responsible for the leadership of the Haematology/Oncology Business Unit in UK & Ireland. Accountable for developing the long range and annual strategic plan for the therapeutic area and ensuring successful preparation and execution in market. This role includes full P&L responsibility for commercial activities including Sales and Marketing for current and future Jazz Pharmaceutical products in the Haematology/Oncology therapy area. 


The incumbent has responsibility for ensuring all activities are executed in accordance with regulatory and legal frameworks including but not limited to, ABPI/local legislation and guidelines, EFPIA, GCP and

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Effectively lead the business unit team and drive successful financial, operational and employee performance results to achieve stated goals for the assigned franchise 

  • Responsible for the P&L of the UK/IE Haematology/Oncology business 

  • Develops the long-range strategic vision for the UK/IE Haematology/Oncology business 

  • Develops and implements the annual and long-range business plans, aligning local strategy and tactics with overall strategy of the EUROW 

  • In close collaboration with EUROW creates, implements and delivers on brand goals including input into longer term brand projects 

  • Successfully aligns all functions behind common, shared goals 

  • Regularly interacts with senior functional leaders and/or major customers to establish strategic plans and objectives for the UK/IE team 

  • Makes decisions on sales and marketing matters that have a broader impact on the business 

  • Is recognized internally and externally as a technical expert in sales and marketing 

  • Deploys a multi-pronged, cross-functional approach that engages key centers, thought leaders, patient societies/associations and other stakeholders and influencers 

  • Contributes to and disseminates understanding of market trends and best practice 

  • Monitors ongoing performance and stakeholder feedback in a robust fact-based business review process and identify opportunities for improvement, focusing on the development of efficiencies and operational improvements, such as administration efficiency, cost control, revenue management, legal compliance and human resource management. 

  • Coordinate with other internal departments to ensure efficient and effective operational and governance processes are in place for all functions operating in the country 

  • Manage resources (including budget) across the Business Unit 

  • Active member and contributor to UK leadership Team and EU Haem-Onc Leadership Team 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Proven leadership success including building high performing teams 

  • Proven success in healthcare sales and marketing leadership roles across multiple distribution channels 

  • Ability to function at both strategic and operational levels with a pragmatic hands-on approach 

  • Significant knowledge of UK/Ire healthcare environment including pricing / access 

  • Significant experience within haematology / oncology 

  • Proven success launching new products, market shaping and launch readiness activities 

  • Evidence of ability to develop innovative programs and materials that support the needs of HCPs and the commercial teams e.g. digital communication platforms 

  • Ability to critically analyse complex data 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations to large groups 

  • Strong inter-personal relationship building skills/collaboration and teamwork 

  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills to identify, understand and propose plans to address business issues and opportunities 

  • Ability to set goals, prioritise activities, and establish/meet challenging timelines

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses 

  • Strong preference for a Science or Business Graduate. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (Life Science preferred)
