This role will be responsible for the control and coordination of all contracted works at the KSP site, ensuring specific and comprehensive risk assessments and method statement reviews have been carried out and issuing Permits where required. Contractors will be periodically inspected throughout the working day to check method statement conditions are in place and being followed. Inductions will be delivered if required and these are tracked and updated on an annual basis.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Reviews risk assessments and method statements, ensuring they are sufficiently detailed and site specific
Ensures all personnel coming to site to complete the works are familiar and have reviewed the risk assessment / method statement.
Verifies contractors have been through the site induction system and makes sure the log is updated
Ensures all permits are prepared in a timely manner and communicates to all personnel involved with the work execution. This includes hot work and confined space permits.
Issues permits for internal maintenance works as required.
Ensures that isolations are in place for the works to be undertaken
Issues the permits at the place of work and ensure the departments are aware of the activities
Sign acceptance of the permit as required
Review lift plans, hot works, confined space activities as required
Works with the various departments across Kent Science Park to provide support with service contractors and project work.
Audit contractors whilst working to issued permits and method statements to ensure risk reduction controls are strictly adhered to.
File/archive completed and closed permits in date order to allow audit and analysis in the future.
Participate in root cause analysis as required, specifically while investigating any related safety incidents related to contractors or otherwise.
Manages contractor management process for Engineering.
Spearhead the control of the Engineering departments Mirashare actions and ensure compliance of the team with actions and reviews, communicating these required actions to the Tier 2 meeting.
Control the timely review of risk assessments within Mirashare by the technicians and also write these as required to support engineering activities

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
A qualified Engineer / Permit issuer with a minimum ONC level, Nebosh general certificate or similar
Some of this should have been gained in a regulated pharmaceutical production environment or similar industry.
Ideally the jobholder should have experience of ISO14001 & ISO45001 quality environments and possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Experience of an electronic work permit system is preferred and other EHS systems used to track incidents and risk assessments.
