Reporting to the Head of New Product Planning & Global Pricing, this role serves as a core executional and analytical lead on commercial diligence and early asset strategy, owning key workstreams such as market assessment, competitive landscaping, revenue forecasting, and primary market research. The Senior Manager partners closely with New Product Planning Deal Leads, as well as Corporate Development, Search & Evaluation, and additional diligence functions to ensure that investment decisions are grounded in rigorous, data-driven commercial insight.

This role is ideal for a candidate who combines strong analytical rigor with strategic thinking, thrives in fast-paced diligence environments, demonstrates outstanding ability to work both collaboratively across functions as well as independently and self-directed, and is motivated to grow into broader deal leadership responsibilities over time.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Independently execute defined components of commercial due diligence for external opportunities (pre-clinical through late-stage assets), including:

      • Market sizing and patient population modeling

      • Unmet need and treatment paradigm assessment

      • Competitive landscape and pipeline benchmarking

    • Develop and maintain patient-based revenue forecasts to support valuation models (rNPV), including sensitivity and scenario analyses

    • Translate clinical and scientific data into clear commercial implications, assumptions, and risks

  • Market & Customer Insight Generation

    • Design, execute, and synthesize primary market research (e.g., KOL interviews, payer discussions, advisory boards) to validate value propositions and forecast assumptions

    • Conduct secondary research and analog analysis to inform launch trajectories, pricing potential, and access considerations

    • Generate concise, insight-driven deliverables that support executive decision-making during active diligence sprints

  • Portfolio & Therapeutic Area Strategy Support

    • Support the NPP deal leads in evaluating strategic fit of potential assets within the Neuroscience and Rare Disease portfolios

    • Contribute to therapeutic area strategy development, including identification of white space and priority search fields

    • Monitor and summarize key external developments (clinical readouts, competitor activity, policy changes) relevant to pipeline and BD strategy

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication

    • Partner with Corporate Development, Finance, Medical, R&D, and Market Access to align on assumptions, risks, and strategic trade-offs

    • Prepare high-quality slides and written materials for internal governance forums, including Investment Committee discussions

    • Serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders by providing objective, well-supported commercial perspectives

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced scientific degree (PhD/MD/PharmD) strongly preferred.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry focused on New Product Planning, Commercial Strategy, Business Development, Strategic Consulting, or related role.

  • Experience supporting commercial diligence or early asset strategy strongly preferred

  • Exposure to neuroscience and/or rare disease markets is highly desirable

Key Metrics for Success

  • Quality, clarity, and credibility of commercial analyses supporting diligence decisions

  • Timeliness and effectiveness of deliverables during active deal processes

  • Strength of cross-functional partnerships and stakeholder trust
